Knit-A-Bit
Ever wanted to buy a yarn but weren’t sure how it would knit up? Thinking about two gorgeous yarns, but didn’t know which to buy? Or simply wanted to know how it feels to knit with a particular yarn? Such decisions can be an arduous task when confronted with so many choices.
Knit-a-Bit gives you the chance to try most lines of yarn in our shop. We provide a sample of almost every line in stock so that you can knit with it and decide if you like it before buying. Not sure if you should go with the Rowan Kidsilk Haze or the Kidsilk Aura? Try it out. What about going with either Lorna’s Lace Shepherd Sock yarn or Fleece Artist Somoko?
Knit as much as a ball or skein allows. Sometimes that could be up to 500 yards! Knit as many samples as you like. You’re not limited to one ball or skein, not even five. Try all the sock yarns, if you like. Here’s your chance to get gauge before committing to buying the five hanks you might regret later. As long as you have the time to sit and knit, the balls or skeins are there for the sampling.
Needles
Knit-a-Bit isn’t restricted to just yarn. Try the needles out too. Try the Addi Turbos or Crystal Palace circulars. Compare the metal needles to the bamboos. Or, try this on for size. Sample the square needles by Kollage and see what you might think. Knitty Couture stocks needle sizes ranging from 000 to 17 for you to sample, but the needles will vary among brand, material, and type. Try DPN in rosewood, size 4, or bamboo circulars in size 8.
The policy
- Only one sample of each yarn line is stocked so unfortunately, you can’t select your color(s).
- You can’t take your sample(s) with you. Once you are done, it is wound back up for the next tester.
- Needles are only available for each size so you may want to bring your own when wanting to sample the yarns. Someone else may be using the size you need.
