Knit-ins and Other Groups

Join us on the following days as others gather to knit, crochet, and/or
spin:

Sundays

  • Open Knit-in: 1:00pm – 6:00pm. Join us every Sunday as knitters come together with their needles and yarn (and sometimes, tea and treats) to knit and socialize with others. It can become quite a party with all the laughter going on. It’s also a fantastic way to spend the day and meet new friends!
  • Afghan Knit Along: 2:00pm – 4:00pm. Barbara Walker’s Learn to Knit Afghan is a great introduction to various knitting techniques and stitch patterns. Sixty-three squares, all equally sized for easy seaming, gives you the opportunity to try your hands at various knit & purl combinations, twisted stitches, cabling, colorwork, lace, and much more. This Knit Along will continue every Sunday thereafter and will continue year-long.

2nd Tuesdays:

  • Spinning Night: 4:30pm – 7:30pm. Next to knitting, spinning is one of the most relaxing, soothing hobbies to take on. Whether it’s on the spindle or the wheel, there’s something absolutely calming about the soft churning of the wheel and feeling the twist of the fiber as it transforms into yarn. Join us every 2nd Tuesday as spinners meet, socialize, and discuss the wonders of fiber.

3rd Tuesdays:

  • Book Club: 5:30pm – 7:30pm. Books clubs are fun, keeps our minds fresh, and the conversations are wonderful. Join us every 3rd Tuesday as we read another fantastic piece. For the month of May, we’ll read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. Come, knit, and discuss the book. Let the conversations begin!

Thursdays

  • Workshops & Demonstrations: 1st Thursdays, 6:00pm. We invite you to attend these “free” classes, in which we’ll show a number of knitting techniques and processes that will expand your knitting repertoire. You’ll learn about steeking, cabling, blocking, finishing, shaping, cast-ons and bind-offs, and more. For more information, check out our Classes page.
  • Knit Alongs and Knit Night: 5:00pm – 8:00pm. Our May KAL is another Elizabeth Zimmermann classic, the Baby Surprise Jacket. This jacket is a simple rectangle and creatively uses decreases to shape the garment in a way so as to minimize seaming (which is only needed at the top of the sleeves).  The Baby Surprise Jacket pattern can also be found in several of Elizabeth’s books.
