Knitting socks for family

For the second half of the 12 socks in 12 months knit along, I’ve focused primarily on socks for the family.  For the month of November, I was able to squeeze in two pairs of socks: ankle socks for my older brother and super-long knee-highs for the little sister.  Both requested blue so one skein of 6-ply Trekking sock yarn did the job.

You can’ believe how refreshing it is to have knitted these ankle socks.  I turned the heel and look!  All I had to do was knit a few ribbed rows and I was done!

The knee-highs, of course, took just a little longer.  I was determined to use the yarn to the very end, and the darn thing just kept going and going.  Angie will definitely have warmth for the winter!

I have two more family members to knit socks for and, cross your fingers, they’ll be done by the end of the year.

We have SIX (6!!!) days until the proposed arrival, and I can feel my fingers becoming more and more swollen.  Even the rings that used to be too big for my fingers are becoming tight-fitting.  I can barely clench a fist so knitting on US1s and US2s is now a bit challenging.

I spoke with my mother the other day, and she informed me that when I look down and see that I have fat, swollen baby-like feet (which I don’t have yet - obviously), the baby will be ready to come.  Great!  Can’t wait.  I will say, however, that I’ve not worn any of my hand-knitted socks because they don’t fit.

Ankle socks are kind of tempting. . .
You better send me pictures of that baby!
