With about three weeks left before maternity leave forces me away from the shop (for good reason, of course), I’ve begun knitting frantically to ensure there are plenty of new displays for the shop.

The first being Aimee, by Kim Hargreaves, and featured in her book, Thrown Together. Knitted out of kidsilk aura, this wonderful cowled wrap is a perfect throw-on for the cool weather - with none of that finicky need for sizing. I had wanted to use kidsilk aura for quite a while and was glad to have finally found a pattern for it.

In all honesty, aside from the cowled wrap look, everything about the pattern was grossly modified. For instance, research of knitters’ reviews of this garment suggested that the wrap limited one’s arm movement. In fact, one knitter stated that she felt her arms were bound to her sides when wearing the wrap. YIKES.
I casted on several more sts than was required for the largest size, used nine balls instead of seven, and worked my double decreases an inch after the ribbing rather than near the shoulder. I didn’t want my arms bound to my sides as I strolled along in my wrap.
The garment turned out to be slightly larger & longer than I had intended, but my frugal self wouldn’t permit me to stop in the middle of a ball - I must continue until the yarn ran out. It is alright - more fabric to cover and keep warm the ever-growing belly!
