September socks are done, and it’s not even the last day of the month yet!
In high school, gym socks were all the rage for me. I loved them. I love them even now, wearing them around the house during the cool seasons. My dad had a large selection of these socks, and I remember snatching a few pairs from his drawer; stripes in red, black, grey, kelly green, yellow and blue. Knitting these socks was certainly nostalgic.

In keeping with my love for knee highs, these socks definitely met my criteria, and more! As the saying goes, “it’ll always come back in style”, and I am determined to bring them back in style.

Knitted toe-up on Cascade 220, I casted on 16 sts, increased to 48 sts for the foot, worked a short-row heel, and after working a bit of the cuff, increased two sts every 5 rows for calf-shaping. As basic as a pair of socks can be, but oh, so cool! If I had a bit more time, I think I just might knit up several color variations.
