A gift to bring the little one home from the hospital.

Rather than knitting a garment, I opted for a bunting bag and hat. My concern with knitting a home-from-the-hospital garment was whether it would fit the baby since babies vary in sizes. Since I didn’t want a garment that appeared oversized or too small, a bunting bag seemed more suitable and besides, look how cute the darn thing looks.

The bunting bag, formally called Comfy Angel’s Nest, was knitted top-down and was a quick knit. Modifications include using a DK (vs. worsted), and knitting the body to ~20″ rather than the suggested 16.5″. I used Rowan Cashsoft DK, 3 skeins of the MC and 1 skein of the CC, with a 24″ US5.
I also love the selection of the red and light grey which seem to compliment each other well.

The hat was knitted in ribbing also to ensure it would fit. It also looks adorable with the brim folded up.
