Frija is the to-die-for, absolutely wonderful cashmere-blend sock yarn from Spirit Trail Fiberworks. Our first order last fall flew off the racks like there was no tomorrow so I called Jennifer and ordered twenty more colors. And look! Aren’t they absolutely beautiful? They’re even more yummy when you can actually feel how incredibly soft they are.
We just received this shipment, and I couldn’t wait to dive into the box. Literally.

So jealous was I that others were already knitting with their skein that I dumped the argyle I started for my February socks to begin on my own cashmere sock skein. Can I tell you, I love it? I LOVE IT!

The argyle I began didn’t exactly work for me (can you tell from the pic?). I don’t much like intarsia because of the excess yarn created when one has to estimate how much yarn to put on each bobbin, and my estimation is never accurate. For someone who doesn’t like to see yarn wasted, intarsia is hard to stomach.
Rather than creating bobbins, I carried the strands directly from all five skeins which soon became a bit, shall we say, unpleasant.
So I threw the argyle to the side and began a pair of Frija for Eric. Perhaps you’re asking why I’m not knitting the first Frija pair for myself. I would, but to use up every inch of my Frija, I need Eric’s leftovers to make sure my knee-highs will be high enough.

Knitting with Frija is just divine (DIVINE!), and Jennifer’s colorways are fantastically vibrant with beautiful subtle colorways.
There are many wonderful sock yarns out there, and they’re all hard to resist. But Frija, we love you!!
