What do you think? If this yarn had a fruity smell, would it be raspberry or rhubarb? Maybe passion fruit?
This question came about when our friend, Brenda (modeling the garment below), asked another knitter whether her beautiful yellow yarn smelled like lemons. It doesn’t, but wouldn’t it be fabulous if it did?

This lace and bobble cowl was designed and knitted for a local alpaca farmer who needed displays for her travels to wool/alpaca festivals. The yarn we were given to work with were suri and suri-merino blends. Yum.
Most of the skeins came in fingering to dk weights, so rather than knitting with such fine weights (we were already making a lace shawl and men’s scarf), I decided to double up and knit a smaller but thicker garment.
Now at a worsted weight, this cowl met just that need. I found a pretty pattern out of one of Barbara Walker’s treasury, added a few additional stitches and bobbles for interest, and viola!
When life gives you lemons (fingering weight and very little time), make lemonade (double it up and make something pretty)!
PS. I’ll find out if I can share the pattern.

That will keep Brenda warm while she calls someone to get her back in her car! I see it in the background and I’m sure she locked her keys in it–again! I love you Brenda and I got you something to help you remember your keys. (And, none of you can bring up the fact that I have yet to actually ship all this crap to you! Er, I mean quality, heart-warming merchandise.)
