So…

With the new year well on its way, I decided I needed to refocus.

This year, I want to recapture some of the creativity I had left on the backburner last year.  You know, those visions and personal designs we have for a particular garment, color combinations we want to explore, or techniques we wanted to challenge ourselves to.  I want, I need, to cultivate those ideas that have been perculating and give them form.

I especially want to be more diligent about completing projects.  This means I need to revisit all those that were stashed and hidden in dressers, bags, baskets, closets, cubbies, wherever.  The goal is to complete or frog.

Eric’s Jarrett 1

Felted Tweed for Eric’s Jarrett

One such project is the Seascape Stole which was casted on last October and left alone until recently.

In just one week, I managed to finish the remaining 3/4 of it.  I think finding time to knit this so quickly was a very rewarding challenge.

I love working on lace, and this was extremely fun to knit.  Though the pattern called for 2.25 balls of Rowan Kidsilk Haze, I continued on and was able to finish the stole with exactly 3 balls.  There was perhaps two yards remaining.  Whew.

I also pick up Eric’s jacket, Jarret from Rowan’s Vintage Knits.  I’m not sure about you, but because he’s the hubby, I tended to gloss over his occasional questioning and hinting (e.g., “It’d be nice to have my warm sweater to wear right now.”).

This also had a fall start but was soon neglected for more “immediate and necessary” pieces.  What could he say?  He wasn’t knitting it.  (Is that mean?)  To appease his  inquiries, however, I churned out a cashmere scarf.  Yes, kind of like how you would churn butter.

Other projects include brioche mittens, yet another sweater, and the luggage bag I stufffed in, ironically, another bag.  Not to worry because I neglected the bag for the mere reason of not being able to figure out a closure system.  During jury duty in December, I came across a fantastic idea while browsing a design magazine (in the waiting room, not the courtroom).   So, I will soon finish this and whatever other pieces I may find hidden.

There are several other projects on the needles that will need attention, but I won’t bore you with the details.  I’ll just impress you when they, unexpectedly, pop up on the blog, pretty and completed (not pretty completed….hopefully, not pretty completed).

So, um, finishing all those projects… Is that why it took so long to update this darn blog?! Not that I was looking every day or anything.

My only purpose now for keeping this blog is to keep you posted. I’ll be more diligent with the updates.
