On Sunday, we hosted a Holiday Potluck for our friends (and any passer-by). It was a fantastically wonderful time… and became especially fun with spirits. We missed our friends who weren’t able to make it.

Despite the gripping economy (trust me, I grimace every time I see, hear, or read anything about it), having spent a day like Sunday allowed me forget all about that for just a bit.
Sunday’s knit-in wasn’t about the shop’s sales or its end-of-the-day numbers. It was completely and utterly about the gathering of friends, old and new. Full of smiles, laughs, jokes and jabs, delicious food and drinks, and of course, knitting.
I told my husband later that evening I felt reassured that Knitty Couture will be okay in these hard times.
We’ve not only built a group of close friends, but a great community of friends that stretch beyond University City, beyond Saint Louis, and even beyond Missouri. Though some of you may not be patrons of the shop (perhaps due to proximity matters), your kind emails, comments and participation in our events show us your support.
You are all friends who have let us know that the shop means something.
When we began a year ago, I knew I wanted the shop to serve a purpose beyond being just a retail store. I just knew it was equally as important that the shop became a venue for community support and programs such as knitting for charities, events such as farm days in which crafters are reconnected to the source of their work, and even non-knitting events such as The Big Read.
Knitty Couture is my foundation upon which to build and cultivate these missions that go beyond retail purposes. With encouragement from so many of you, the wonderful patrons and supporters of the shop, these missions can and do become a reality.
The knit shop and Knitty Couture exist because of you.
The hat I’m wearing in the last picture was crocheted by my mom. During a decluttering session of her closet, she came across this adorable piece. It’s at least 25 years old. An oldie, but still a goodie.
I hope I’ll be able to say that about Knitty Couture a few years from now.
Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays Thi, Eric and of course everyone else.
I wanna move back!!!! Is there some dangerous, inter-dimensional thing I could do to constantly travel back and forth from Portland to St. Louis within seconds? Siri? Angie? Pour over your sci-fi junk and let me know! I’ll do anything short of sacrificing my cat!
P.S.
Brenda, are you keeping all the warmth to yourself? Not sharing with Lourdes? Just look at her! She’s trying to cuddle to keep from freezing!
Come back T.J. We miss you. I cannot, however, make the sci-fi connection.
Do you want us to come up to Portland and bring you home?
Okay I’ve been thinking and I say we open a wormhole (like on Deep Space Nine) and that way TJ you could back and forth. Of course it might destroy the earth’s gravity system, I say we risk it I want you back!
Hugs everyone and happy new year.
Alright Siri,
You have the plan, let’s throw the switch and Make it So.
TJ we all miss you so much.
