The pattern for this table runner, found in a Berroco pattern book, is playful and visually appealing. I’ve missed knitting lace, and this was just enough to satisfy my urge… for now.
Named Montague and knitted out of NaturLin, it was full of yarn overs, ssks and k2togs. Geez! Can a person be forced to be any more vigilant in making sure all the stitches were there? Didn’t I mention I missed lace?
Despite some frustrations, it was actually a joy to knit and can I say, having this “blanket” of yarn on my lap during the summertime was quite alright, given that it was a linen-rayon blend and nonwool.
Don’t let the term “table runner” fool you; most who saw the piece considered it a shawl. Next time you knit a shawl, perhaps it could be a table runner.

Careful, if you keep wearing your furniture’s clothes, people might take you for a lamp!
