Just a little taste

Recently, we had our first “Yarn Tasting” event.

The purpose of the Yarn Tasting is to highlight a particular company/product by inviting customers to enjoy an evening of sampling and socializing. In addition, we offer select wines from the area to compliment the yarn.

For those of you in the St. Louis area, our wine merchant was Parker’s Table. This fabulous wine shop is located in Clayton and have an incredible selection of wine, cheese, oils and many other great items.

For our first Tasting, we highlighted Imperial Stock Ranch, a wonderful Oregon company. IRS is located in the north-central section of the state, just east of the magnificent Cascade Mountains, and is situated on 30,000 acres of Oregon’s high desert.

Eric and I were very excited to bring this line in because we greatly admire what ISR stands for, we support small companies, and pinot noirs and gris are our favorites! Where else can one find great pinots other than in Oregon?

In the shop are three of ISR’s yarns: bulky pencil roving (similar to Icelandic unspun), 2-ply worsted and sock yarn. I’m pleasantly intrigued by the 2-ply worsted which has amazing plumpness and a subtle heatherness. Perfect for arans and cables. I’ve been eyeing the light grey for hubby’s sweater.

Everyone seemed to have had a great time as evident from the photos.

Keep an eye out for more Yarn Tastings to come. I believe the next one will be SOCKS!

Jeanne Carver, co-owner of ISR, had this to say,

“Wow! What a great idea, and a fun event. THANK YOU for making us the subject of your evening….and for being a customer/partner. It was a unique and creative idea that featured Oregon Agriculture products clear across the country!!!!! You are truly amazing. Thank you, Thi.”

Um…so, did the IRS supply yarn? Is that where my taxes are going? If so, where are my dividends?!
