Would you like to visit an alpaca farm? Then come join us!
Lita Murphy, owner of Prairieland Peruvian Alpacas, visited the shop in November and as we began talking about small, local farmers, she invited me to her farm to visit with her alpacas. How could I resist?
With the busy holiday and weather, I and a few other friends finally got the chance to drive up to Worden, Illinois for a visit last week. Lita was amazingly gracious with her time and welcomed us into her home for a wonderful, thorough, and fabulously fun afternoon with her, 22 alpacas, and 2 great pyrenees.
The alpacas were very sociable, extremely soft, and didn’t mind one bit having strangers ooh and ahh at them. Lita also showed us how the soft fiber was processed into roving and then finally into yarn.
It was a fantastic experience!
With Lita’s permission, Knitty Couture invites you to visit Prairieland Peruvian Alpacas in Worden, Illinois on Saturdays, April 5th and April 19th. Space must be limited to 8 visitors per date. Please come by the shop to secure a reservation.
We request a visiting fee of $10 per person which goes to Lita for setting aside time out of her busy schedule and give friends a chance to learn about and visit with her lovely animals.
