Classes, Groups and Knit Alongs

We’re excited to begin the new year with a new set of classes, including entrelac, lace and 1st sweater. For more information, check out the classes link on the sidebar.

In addition, we will begin monthly demonstrations on various knitting techniques. Join us every 1st Thursday at 6:00pm as we show you another interesting aspect of knitting such as steeking, blocking, cabling, shaping, cast-ons & bind-offs, and more. On Jan 3rd, we’ll help you demystify the wonder of steeking.

In an earlier post, we discussed beginning a Knit Along for Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Pi Shawl. The official cast-on date for this Knit Along will be Thursday, Jan. 10th, 5:00-8:00pm. Elizabeth recommends using Emily Ocker’s circular beginning for the cast-on, which involves making crochet stitches. Join us on on Thursday evening as we help one another begin this interesting cast-on method.

We also have a second Knit Along we would like to start.

You ask, “But isn’t Knitty Couture already having a knit along for the Pi Shawl?” Yes, we are, and we’re having another one because this one is going to be just as fun.

Many knitters come into the shop having begun afghan projects or are ready to start one. We have a wonderful book by Barbara Walker, Learn to Knit Afghan, which charts 63 delightful squares. Each square is completely different and encourages the knitter to learn a new skill whether it’s colorwork, cabling, etc.

Join us on Sunday afternoon (2:00-4:00pm) for our Afghan Knit Along, as we begin and continue throughout the entire year a new (or two) square for our afghan.

Lastly, we’ve set aside the 2nd Tuesdays for our spinners. Do join us as it is quite fun. If you don’t know how to spin but would love to learn, come by.

Is there a list of things you need to bring with you for each of the classes?

Thanks and looking forward to them!

Hi, Kathy, I had completely forgotten to include that in the class listing. The supply list is now included under each class. Thank you for the pointing it out.
