On the Needles and On Display: Garments

As knitters, we acknowledge that there are always projects on the needles. Sometimes, this is a positive thing - there’s always something to work on. Sometimes, …. um…. not so much - there’s something that’s needs finished (Oh, dear).

Just like some of you out there, finishing is not necessarily my strongest attribute. I’m not sure whether it’s an issue of “letting go” or “boredom and the need for something new and exciting” or simply, going through with the “finishing process”…. or all of the above. Fortunately, for me, committing myself to making displays for the shop forces me to finish my projects sooner rather than later. And I’m still dragging my feet.

Here is the progress on some of the projects at Knitty Couture. In an earlier entry, we posted two items displayed in our windows for November: a basketweave cable shawl and a double stranded, fair isle sweater. The pattern for the basketweave cable is also available in this early entry.

Cream Cardigan

V-Neck Celery Ribbed Sweater

Two garments are begging to be finished, and if I can convince myself to sit down for one second to seam them up, we will all be happy. In the meantime, here they are in their unfinished form.

The first is a cream aran cardigan. The pattern is made up and was inspired by a sweater worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in an episode of Sex and the City. Pictured are the back of the cardigan and the sleeves.

The second garment is a v-neck sweater knitted in a celery ribbed pattern. This pattern was taken from an 1960s Vogue Knitting magazine. I love old, vintage knitting magazines, by the way. It looks terrible in its pre-blocked phase, but I swear it looked lovely in the magazine.

Check back next week as they will be finished, in the shop, and on display.

I hope.
