Time to get busy. So many inquiries about classes, our programs, and knit groups so here we go:
Classes will soon be in session. This semester, we will focus on beginners’ knitting, socks, and winterwear. Our first Knit 101 class will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15th, 5:00-7:00pm. For those unable to make it on Thursday, the class is also offered on Sunday, 5:00-7:00pm. Knit 101 is a two-hour session which will focus on learning the foundational stitches: knit and purl.
If you’re interested in more advanced beginner techniques such as decreasing, increasing, simple pattern reading, and more, Knit 102 may be more appropriate. This class is a good preparatory class to set you on your way. You can always come to the Knit Clinic for help (see below or follow the link for more information).
Also available on Sunday is our first socks class, Socks - Toe Up, 11:00am-1:00pm. Learning to knit toe-up socks helps to break up the monotonous for those knitters who are used to knitting only cuff-down. For more information on this class and all our other classes, please visit our Classes page. To register, please call us at 314.727.6500.
We also very excited to announce the start of two very unique programs for St. Louis knitters and all other visitors: Knit-A-Bit and Knit Clinic. These are programs that we’ve envisioned and developed to help all individuals enhance and explore their handwork skills.
Ever have doubt about buying yarn? Knit-A-Bit will allow you to test all the lines of yarn we carry as well as the needles before you commit. ….. or you can just “taste” the yarn and needles for fun. I’ve made mistakes when it came to buying yarn, only I didn’t realize it until after I bought and couldn’t return it. I’d hate for others to have regrets about their purchases. Come and try out Knit-A-Bit! This program will begin on Saturday, Nov. 10th.
Need help with your knitting? Knit Clinic will also begin on Saturday, Nov. 10th from 12:30-2:00pm. Don’t be shy to bring your projects in for help. We have a very experienced instructor who will give you more personalized attention with your woes. The Knit Clinic lasts for an hour and a half so you have that entire time to work on your project(s) and get help. We’ve been there and wished for a Knit Clinic too. To sign up, please give us at call at 314.727.6500.
And lastly, knitting, crochet, and spinning groups…..
It’s been really fun so far having knitters come in to hang out and knit. Please feel welcome to come by anytime, whether it’s your lunch break or if you have a short (or long) slot of time to spare. We love company!
For knit-in’s, we have designated Sunday as our Open Knit-In. We open doors at 1:00pm, and all knitters are invited to come by to knit for all of Sunday until we close at 6:00pm (or after…if we’re having too much fun - there’s seems to be lots of laughing going on in the shop). Bring your projects, meet, and socalize with others. Maybe we’ll have goodies to snack on.
We also invite crocheters to our shop should you have a moment to sit, relax and crochet. We’d love to start a crochet group on Tuesday evenings, 5:00-7:00pm.
And finally, we have to, HAVE TO, have a spinning group. Many of us here at Knitty Couture are spinners and would love to meet and spin with others. We invite you to join us for an evening of spinning on Wednesdays, 4:30pm - 7:30pm.
Oh, don’t forget we’re open till 8:00pm on Thursdays so, of course, come by and knit.
